The Sports Medicine department of the Clinique romande de réadaptation (CRR) has once again obtained the renewal of the « Swiss Olympic Medical Center » label for 2019-2022.
The CRR, which has benifited from this label since 2011, passed the renewal procedure with flying colours allowing it to continue practising for the next four years. The « Swiss Olympic Medical Centers » are centres specialized in taking care of high level athletes and up-coming sportsmen and woman competing at national and regional level (dealing also with sports trauma, sports medicine reporting, laboratory research, diagnostics and training advice).
High quality services
The « Swiss Olympic Medical Centers » are, in general, large medical centres in which competences cover the care and sports medicine framework to follow up-coming and high level athletes, as well as the performance diagnostical aspect. Certified establishments are constantly controlled by Swiss Olympic ensuring that the catalogue of demanded criteria is respected.

A hub of knowledge available to all and unique in the Valais
Operational since the creation of the Clinique romande de réadaptation (CRR) in 1999 directed by the former medical managing director Prof. Charles Gobelet the sports medicine department has continued to develop its services over the past 20 years. Dr Pierre-Etienne Fournier, head physician of the Swiss Olympic Medical Center (SOMC) of the CRR states : « This reward confirms the quality of our services and places us as an essential hub of competences within the domain of sports medicine, thanks to the multi-disciplinary aspect of the CRR ».
The SOMC of the CRR is of course also open to amateur sports lovers who can fully benifit from the competences of a multi.disciplinary structure composed of doctors, training specialists, physiotherapists and a nutrition specialist. For 2019-2022, 17 establishments received the «Swiss Olympic Medical Center» label. Among these centres, six are located in the French speaking part of Switzerland, but only one in the Valais, at the CRR. The « Sport Medical Bases approved by Swiss Olympic » label also exists, with lower demands. 26 establishments, which are often smaller in size, obtained this reward.
