For its program « A la table de l’info », Rhône Fm (local radio station) produced two features in the company of a group of people who were following a cardiovascular rehabilitation program at the 'Clinique romande de réadaptation' (CRR).
As a reminder, this out-patient cardiovascular rehabilitation programs has been in place since 2009. It was launched in collaboration with the cardiology department at the CHVR and that of the CRR to take over the already existing one at the time. This very successful collaboration is a reference throughout the French speaking part of Switzerland and it allows for an optimization of both entities. The CRR provides the high quality equipment and infrastructure as well as specially trained physiotherapists, whereas the medical follow-up is provided by the cardiology department in Sion Hospital.
Led by Dr Grégoire Girod, head physician of the cardiology department in the CHVR, the staff includes 4 cardiologists, 8 physiotherapists specialized in cardiovascular rehabilitation, 1 sports instructor specialized in adapted physical activities, 7 nurses, 2 psychiatrists, 4 psychologists, 1 dietician and 1 medical biologist. The organisation and planning is carried out by Mr Jérôme De Bast, specialized physiotherapist at the CRR, and program coordinator.
After a little over 7 years, the centre has just welcomed its 1000th patient, that is about 150 people per year. This number is quickly increasing and could reach 200 to 250 patients a year, to be able to answer to all the needs of the population in the Valais.
