The Clinique romande de réadaptation (CRR) has recently received within its walls a brand new innovative tool dedicated to rehabilitation : the D-Wall. This new technology is a great help to physiotherapists in the patient monitoring.

Innovation to help patients

The D-Wall is a digital mirror greatly used in therapy sessions. Gernerally speaking, the mirror, raises awareness on the patients body posture. This additional digital tool allows the patient to carry out each movement in optimal control, but also analyses the patient's performance live according to precise parametres.
Equiped with a 3D camera which identifies the exact position of joints, medical professionals can obtain, live, a visualization of the amount of movement in several joints, of the control of control of the torso and the body position. All of this is for the benefit of optimal support for learning movement. In addition, thanks to a built-in power platform in the floor, the therapists can measure all the reaction forces in the floor, which gives them even more information and, above all, allows them to use this tool to carry out tests, stability exercises and jump tests as well.

Safer and more effective treatments

This tool is equipped with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology, which offers the possibility to connect devices that are mainly used during assessment and exercise sessions. It is possible to integrate any kind of plan into the exercise sessions. It is also possible to connect all kinds of heart rate measuring devices such as Smartwatch, chest belt, chest strap and others. This makes training more effective and safer for the patient.
In addition, patient-specific rehabilitation programmes can be easily designed using a library of over 550 exercises. There are also 55 pre-existing programmes that have been specially designed according to the objective that each therapist wishes to give to the session: rehabilitation, prevention or sport

« Thanks to the acquisition of the D-Wall, the Clinic is keeping up to date with the therapeutic arsenal offered to its clients and each physiotherapist is already looking forward to integrating it into his or her rehabilitation programmes to
render them even more varied, adapted and effective. »

Thomas Nesa, physiotherapist at the CRR.

Progressive training of the staff

At present, therapists are undergoing progressive training in order to exploit the full benefits of this digital mirror. Gradually, the D-Wall will be integrated into the various treatments.
The scope of this technology allows for simple exercises while sitting in a chair, as well as more complex exercises for more mobile people. This allows it to be used with the majority of patients who come to the Clinique romande de réadaptation.
