The CRR and Forêt Valais collaborate with the aim of promoting health and physical fitness among the lumberjacks working in the Valais region.
A study carried out in 2011 by the 'Convention collective de travail de l’Economie forestière' (common convention regarding work and economy in the forestry industry) showed that a large percentage of lumberjacks leave the industry before the age of 40.
Wishing to find a solution to this problem, the state-run association dealing with this profession have begun a partnership with the Swiss Olympic Medical Center at the CRR. The main objective is to assess the lumberjacks' health, and to give them advice on physical condition, sporting activities and nutrition.
