2nd edition of ParaRomandie - the paraplegia meeting in the French speaking part of Switzerland

After a successful first edition in 2017, the Clinique romande de réadaptation (CRR) is organizing, on Saturday the 4th of May 2019, for the second time, a special day to discuss the theme of wheelchair bound people.

An event to raise awareness and inform

As the only specialised centre in the field in the French speaking part of Switzerland, the CRR swishes to contribute to raising aareness of the world of paraplegia and tetraplegia. This day, open to all, is therefore intended to be a platform for meetings, information and raising awareness. The public will thus dbe able, through testimonials, workshops, demontrations amd exhibitors' stands, to better understand this world of disability.

Conferences and testimonials : post accident reconstuction

Among the highlights of the day, conferences and testimonials between 10h and 12h in the hall will be particularly interesting. For this edition, the common thread chosen is : reconsrtruction (physical, psychological and social) following an accident. The theme will be treated from various angles, bginning with a speech made by M. Benjamin Roduit, National Councillor and former college Recto, who will bring his experience in the field of education and dof « construction » among todayis youth. Then Béatrice Bussard and Blaise Mettan, directly concerned by a situation of disability, will testify without taboos about their day-to-day lives. This will be undoubtedly be a unique opportunity to hear the reality of a peraon who is wheelchair bound. Finally, Dr Nicolas De Tonnac, retired psychiatrist and himself paraplegic, will bring his professional and personal experience to light.

Demonstrations, initiations and visits

  The public will be able to better understand the experiences of people in wheelchairs by visiting the exhibitors' stands (associations and specilaized suppliers), discovering specific equipment or therapies such as : indoor curling, kyusho, a wheelchair obstacle course, equine therapy, a driving simulator, a specially equipped bedroom, a special workshop for the children, etc.
